In the latest twist and turn in the Raiders stadium saga, a new dynamic unfolded.
Power of Sheldon Adelson: #Raiders move to Vegas is in jeopardy with him pulling out & his ties to Goldman Sachs. This could be his legacy

That comes after initial reports that suggested otherwise.
Though their application is in, the #Raiders business deal is not yet finalized for Las Vegas. Can do it with Sheldon Adelson or without.

Here’s how it’s been explained through piecing it apart from various media outlets.
Last week, the Raiders submitted a lease proposal to the Stadium Authority, a lease proposal which did not include Adelson. Apparently, while team President, Marc Bardain was meeting with the Authority, Mark Davis was playing wing man, discussing god knows what with Adelson. Sheldon claims he had no idea a lease(squeezing him out of the deal) was in the works; this I’m not too sure of. I don’t see Mark as the type to chit chat over Matzo Ball recipes or Israeli affairs, what would Davis have in common with the 110 year old Adelson that he could entertain him with?
So Monday, Adelson let it be known that he was mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.
“It was certainly shocking to the Adelson family,” the statement said. “We were not only excluded from the proposed agreement; we weren’t even aware of its existence.”
“It’s clear the Raiders have decided their path for moving to Las Vegas does not include the Adelson family,” Adelson’s statement said. “So, regrettably, we will no longer be involved in any facet of the stadium discussion.”
Shocking? Does he not read his own newspaper?
This is from Sheldon’s paper almost 3 weeks ago.
Steelers Owner Art Rooney:
“I think the Raiders are looking at this potentially going without Mr. Adelson,’’ Rooney, chairman of the league’s stadium committee and one of the NFL’s most influential owners, told reporters in New York after league meetings on relocation and stadium issues.
OK, so it’s not a secret the Raiders were trying to move on without Sheldon’s money, the league knew, the media reported it, even fans like myself knew the Raiders were trying to work around the casino mogul to get approval. Why is it shocking to the Billionaire?
The Raiders issued this response.
“The Raiders deeply appreciate the efforts of the Adelson family to bring the Raiders to Las Vegas,” the team’s statement said. “We know this project could not have advanced to this point without them. The Raiders remain steadfast in honoring Mark Davis’ commitment to Gov. (Brian) Sandoval and the state of Nevada to pursue relocation to Las Vegas.”
This sudden reaction from Adelson sure is interesting.
One day he’s saying this:
I could live with any deal, I could live without any deal. A guy in my position doesn’t need anything. I’ve got everything I need, I can do anything I want. I don’t need this.
Now, he’s suddenly heart broken, and shocked by the ruthless acts of Mark Davis.
While I do think this development has changed the dynamics of this opportunity, I’m still not convinced that it’s not a contrived effort to negotiate the deal he’s looking for. Maybe the goal all along was to get an NFL team without putting forth any of the Adelson fortune? Maybe the NFL is really acting on Mark’s behalf and he’s simply following instructions from the league? Maybe Mark Davis has balls the size of cantaloupe and gives no fuq’s while pushing aside one of the most powerful men in the world?
The Super Bowl may be on Sunday, but the Raiders big game has just begun.
